Neue Studie zeigt massive Einsparungen bei Emissionen, Energie und Wasser
Eine aktuelle Untersuchung der Stanford University belegt, dass das Recycling von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien deutliche Umweltvorteile gegenüber dem Abbau neuer Metalle bietet. Laut der Studie, die in Nature Communications veröffentlicht wurde, reduziert das Recycling:
Treibhausgasemissionen um 58 % bis 81 %
Wasserverbrauch um 72 % bis 88 %
Energieverbrauch um 77 % bis 89 %
Zusätzlich korreliert der geringere Energieverbrauch mit reduzierten Luftschadstoffen wie Ruß und Schwefelverbindungen. Diese Erkenntnisse sind von großer Bedeutung, da die Nachfrage nach Batterien für Elektrofahrzeuge und Energiespeicher rasant wächst.
